Mac App-Empfehlung: Better Snap Tool

Mac App-Empfehlung: Better Snap Tool

Magnetic Field Therapy – Science or Snake Oil?

Magnetic Field Therapy – Science or Snake Oil?

As some of you know, I occasionally dive into the world of homeopathy, esotericism, and alternative medicine. One concept that stuck with me from the past—both as a skeptic and as a once-curious believer—is magnetic field therapy. So, I recently took the time to read up on it again. The result? As always, a mix of lofty healing promises, dubious mechanisms, and a whole lot of commercial noise. Sprinkle in wellness marketing, internet scams, and some "miracle devices," and you've got a familiar recipe. Here's what I found when I took a closer look. What is Magnetic Field Therapy? Magnetic…

Rage and Reactions: The Controversy Around the “Innocence of Muslims” Video

Rage and Reactions: The Controversy Around the “Innocence of Muslims” Video

Mohammed cartoons, a provocative video, Quran burnings. On the other side: flag burnings, violent protests, and embassies under siege. The cycle of provocation and outrage seems endless. Yet beneath the noise lies a more complex question: What actually fuels these conflicts, and how do we prevent them from spiraling out of control? This post is an attempt to explore those questions—not to provide ultimate answers, but to encourage reflection, including my own. It's about free speech, religious respect, media responsibility, and how easily hate can be manufactured and spread. What Sparked the Fire? The short video Innocence of Muslims (2012) was…
The Apple Maps Controversy: What’s Really Going On with iOS 6?

The Apple Maps Controversy: What’s Really Going On with iOS 6?

The media frenzy around Apple’s new Maps app in iOS 6 has been frustrating to watch. Reports of navigation glitches, display issues, and inaccurate locations are everywhere. Some headlines go so far as to call the whole thing a "disaster" and a "major embarrassment" for Apple and its new operating system. But before we join the outrage, let’s take a step back. What’s behind Apple’s decision to switch from Google Maps? Are users really stuck with a broken product? And what are the alternatives? Let’s break it down. Yes, There Are Errors — But That’s Only Part of the Story…
Why Do So Many Still Reject Evolution? A Look at the USA and Beyond

Why Do So Many Still Reject Evolution? A Look at the USA and Beyond

When looking at the chart comparing national wealth with belief in evolution, one country stands out in a troubling way: the United States. Among the wealthiest nations in the world, the U.S. ranks near the bottom in terms of belief in evolution. Only around 40% of the U.S. population answered “true” to the statement: “Human beings, as we know them, developed from earlier species of animals.” This puts the U.S. far behind its economic peers and even behind many countries with significantly lower GDP per capita. But what’s even more concerning is that the U.S. is not alone. Other relatively…
Mac App Recommendation: ControlPlane

Mac App Recommendation: ControlPlane

Who hasn’t been there? You take your MacBook with you wherever you go—work, home, a friend’s place, university, or the library. But each of these places has different needs: you might need different apps, network settings, or audio volumes depending on where you are. To solve this hassle, a clever developer created a free Mac app called ControlPlane. ControlPlane lets you define contexts (like “Work,” “Home,” or “Library”) and detect them using evidence sources—things like the Wi-Fi network you’re connected to, the time of day, or whether an external monitor is plugged in. Based on this evidence, ControlPlane automatically switches…

Why the iPhone 5 Will Be a Success

Why the iPhone 5 Will Be a Success

As some of you know, I’m a bit of an Apple fan. But don’t worry—this isn’t going to be a sales pitch for the latest gadget from Cupertino. I simply want to share why I still believe the iPhone is the best smartphone on the market—and how the iPhone 5 only reinforces that view. A Big Step Forward Last week, Apple officially introduced the long-awaited iPhone 5. Unlike past launches, many details had leaked ahead of time—whether intentionally or not. And yes, as a longtime Apple follower, I couldn’t help but think, “This never would’ve happened under Steve.” That said,…
